At the start of the project Bob and Alison expressed that ‘We are also very excited by the fact that not only does this project help raise funds for the Mercy Hospice but also provides a venue for family, friends and other public to visit, and to remember loved ones in a soothing, peaceful and magnificent courtyard.’ Now it certainly has achieved that. In addition, this project has given Bob Steiner the opportunity to create a large scale installation.
The experience for Bob and Alison Steiner has been a humbling one as neither had been exposed to a hospice service in the past. “Through this project we have both witnessed the valuable, high quality, commitment and service of the Hospice staff and volunteers to not only patients but also family and friends using the service. We therefore wish to pass on our support for the Hospice Awareness week the services of which are offered free to patients and their families, regardless of age, ethnicity, means or religion, thanks to the generosity of our community.” To donate to your local hospice go online go www.hospice.org.nz)
