          Fantail  The New Zealand Tiwakawaka or Piwakawaka are two of the many names given the fantail in Maori which all express its dancing nature.  It is well known for its friendly, cheerful dance, flitting close about you as you walk through the native bush. Its bright eyes and erratic flicking tail make him hard to forget as he seems to guide you along with his company. The bird, inspired by the native fantail (Piwakawaka) of New Zealand captures the flitting friendly nature of the cheeky fantail.  Measures 140 mm x 110mm x 85mm.  The bird, freestands or hangs and can be grouped on a table or wall (cascading).

          Kowhai.  The flower from the kowhai is considered by many to be New Zealand's national flower.   They aren’t actually flowers as such but little dry fruits.  These flowers are usually red but can also be found in several other colours such as yellow.  Kowhai are not edible although during traditional times, the Maori used the bark from the kowhai tree as medicine.   They would heat the skin in a bowl with hot stones.
