Bob Steiner Wall Art Challenge 2011

CREATED: 01/01/70
Bob Steiner Wall Art Challenge 2011

This is expected to become an annual event.  Here are some notes from the 2011 wall art challenge when we congratulated Catherine Melo the winner. Catherine was presented with her prize in association with Mixt in Kingsland. Pictured here with Bob, Catherine will be donating part of her prize to auction for the Red Cross Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.  Thank you Catherine for your passionate response to Bob’s work

Some background It is fantastic to see (and hear) about people building their Bob Steiner collection and creating installations for their spaces both in New Zealand and around the world.

Why a wall art challenge? We often ask people to send in a photo of what they have created and the location (design area). At times we are limited in knowing who has bought Bob’s wall art and where it has ended up including the finished composition.

So the challenge is an invitation to send us photos (including the space the work is in) so that we (and others) can see what people have created (over the past five years) using Bob’s work. The photos will be shared on Facebook.

An installation may be as small as one piece to an infinite number of pieces of Bob’s work. It is not necessarily the number of pieces, rather the fit and presentation within a space.

Entry is simple and the challenge is an invitation to send us photos (including the space the work is in) of your Bob Steiner wall art or post it directly on to Bob Steiner Ceramics Facebook page with something about it (see our example on Facebook) so that we (and others) can see what people have created using Bob’s work. The photos will be shared on Facebook.

At the end of July we will get people to tell us the one they like the best.

The prize for the winner is a composition or selection of wall art to the same value of their entry (up to a maximum retail value of $1500). The winner will have a choice to have something for their wall or a composition to have it sold at auction for the Christchurch earthquake. A condition of your entry is that we will use a photograph of you with your composition for publicity purposes.

Voting will end on 10th August 2011 and the winner announced on 12th August 2011. Vote for the best or most inspiring display.

The challenge will run from 1st June to 31st July 2011. Put us in the picture – send a photo of your installation.

Stockists of Bob Steiner Ceramics wall art are listed on our website www.steinerceramics.co.nz .

Other stockists listed may be able to order pieces in for you if required. The prize will be presented in association with the store nearest the winner’s residence.

We look forward to seeing some fantastic photos.

Some background:

For over five years, Bob Steiner has been creating wall art pieces using a range of shapes and sizes, based around New Zealand Flora and Fauna. They may be combined and composed to create unique wall art installations.

An exciting result of this format is that an installation can range from one piece alone or added to, to grow and become a large full scale installation.

The range of colours and styles of the pieces also enhances the presentation of an installation, from plain whites to a combination of bright colours evoking different themes and feelings in a range of environments. We often ask people to send in a photo of what they have created and the location (design area). At times we are limited in knowing who has bought pieces and where it has ended up including the finished composition. The wall art challenge is an exciting way to see what other people have created and the situations in which Bob’s work has been used!
